Cliona Harmey is interested in the histories, artifacts and hybrid forms of technologies.
Her current work often combines photography, sculpture and electronics. It often reflects on histories of communication systems from shipping to flags and signals. She is based in Dublin and is currently a Lecturer at the National College of Art & Design.
She is a visiting research assistant at Orthogonal Methods Group(OMG) an artist group that meet at the Connect Centre Trinity, an engineering department that which considers and develops technologies for future networks. Her recent projects include "Block and Receive" a solo exhibition at the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny, Dublin Ships a major temporary public art work as well as curatorial projects: "Vertical Thoughts"an offsite event with Douglas Hyde Gallery and "port|river|city" a site responsive exhibition and event series in collaboration with aemi dublin which was funded by Dublin Port Company.
